While the headlines chase Nvidia and AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise quietly put up one of 2026’s most impressive rallies: a fresh record high and a 182% climb from its February lows.
What happened
HPE shares hit an all-time high of $65.65 on Friday, driven by surging demand for AI computing systems, high-performance computing, and hybrid-cloud infrastructure, according to StockTwits. The stock has gained 182% since its February lows. It pared gains into the close and finished the session about 0.9% lower.
HPE wasn’t alone in Friday’s run — AMD set a record at $639 after Bank of America raised its price target to $720, and Moderna hit a three-year high of $202.67. The common thread: investors are paying up for companies with direct exposure to AI workloads.
Why it matters
HPE’s run tells you where the AI money is rotating when the pure-play chip names get expensive:
- $65.65 record vs February lows — a near-triple on enterprise infrastructure demand
- AI systems demand is pulling through server, networking, and hybrid-cloud spend — HPE’s core wheelhouse
- The rotation is broadening: AMD crossed a $1 trillion market cap on AI CPU demand, and HPE rides the same enterprise refresh cycle
The risk is timing. Chip stocks slid again in Monday’s premarket on the Iran oil spike and rate-hike fears — a reminder that HPE’s record came just as the whole high-growth trade hit a macro headwind. Records set on macro-exposed multiple expansion can fade quickly when yields keep rising.
What to watch
HPE’s next earnings print will show whether AI server order growth is sustaining at these levels. Also watch enterprise IT spending data and whether the AI infrastructure rotation continues to broaden beyond the chip designers into the systems and networking names.

Is HPE’s 182% rally a catch-up to fair value, or is the AI infrastructure trade overheating? Let’s hear your view.
