Blockchain.com, the crypto exchange and wallet provider founded in 2011, is planning a U.S. IPO this year that could raise about $500 million at a valuation of up to $6 billion, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

    What happened

According to the report, the company is weighing a listing that would value it between $4 billion and $6 billion, and it is open to a smaller offering to get the listing done. The filing route is already underway: Blockchain.com confidentially filed a draft Form S-1 with the SEC in May 2026, without disclosing a share count or price range, and the offering remains subject to SEC review and market conditions.

    • Target raise: $500 million at a $4B–$6B valuation
    • Far below its $14B valuation peak in 2022, and under the ~$7B Series E valuation in 2023
    • Scale: 95M+ wallets, 43M+ verified users, $1.1T+ in lifetime transaction volume, ~500 employees
    • Reportedly profitable on an adjusted basis for each of the past three years
    • Recently signed an MOU with the NYSE (Sept 23, 2026) to offer tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, pending regulatory approval

    Why it matters

This is the next real test of the crypto-equity listing pipeline after the 2024–25 boom-bust cycle in crypto names. Unlike the frothy private rounds of 2021–22, the reported $4B–$6B range is a steep haircut from the $14B mark — a sign that private-market discipline is back. For readers watching crypto equity exposure, a successful listing would signal that crypto capital markets are thawing, with Bitcoin’s 30%+ rally since mid-August helping to reopen the window.

    What to watch

The key milestones are SEC review progress and when the public S-1 drops, followed by the eventual price range. Just as important is how recently listed crypto names — Gemini, BitGo and eToro, all down roughly 50–80% from their post-IPO highs — trade into the debut. And watch whether Kraken, whose own IPO may slip to 2027, follows Blockchain.com through the door.

Discussion: Would you buy Blockchain.com at a $4B–$6B valuation, or does the track record of post-IPO crypto names keep you on the sidelines?
