Korea’s crypto tax debate is blowing up again. From what I’m seeing in Korean community discussions: a crypto gains tax is still scheduled to kick in next year, potentially affecting around 13 million investors, and there’s a real push to delay it once more — apparently about half of the lawmakers polled were open to a deferral.

A lot of Korean investors are furious, calling the policy tone-deaf, and some are even talking about stepping away from the market. Whatever side you’re on, it’s a reminder: the tax man cometh, and Korea tends to be the canary in the coal mine for how governments treat crypto gains.
