    What happened
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) rallied more than 4% in early trading Wednesday after reports it signed a $1.2 billion deal to supply AI servers to Vultr, a private cloud infrastructure company. The order is notable for two reasons: it is HPE’s first sale built on AMD’s Helios rack-scale AI system, and it extends AMD’s foothold in rack-level AI infrastructure beyond its own branded hardware. HPE briefly hit an intraday high of $67.10 and traded above a $63.44 buy point in its cup base. AMD gave up early gains to slip modestly, but held above a $584.73 buy point of its own.

    Key figures:
    – $1.2 billion — value of the HPE–Vultr AI server order
    – HPE shares +4%+ on the day, intraday high $67.10
    – AMD stock up more than 180% year to date vs Nvidia’s roughly 24%

    Why it matters
The deal validates two narratives at once. For HPE, it shows the AI server business can win large, rack-scale contracts in a market long dominated by Nvidia-centric systems — diversified demand that Wall Street has been waiting to see. For AMD, Helios getting its first commercial order through a major OEM partner is exactly the kind of ecosystem proof point that supports its AI hardware story, even as the stock faces daily-trader volatility: ARK Invest sold 181,767 AMD shares (about $110 million) on Tuesday while buying roughly $81.6 million of Nvidia, showing even AI bulls are rotating around positions.

    What to watch
Micron’s fiscal Q4 results land after the close today and will set the tone for the memory side of the AI trade. For HPE, the question is whether the breakout above the $63.44 buy point holds into the close on real volume. For AMD, watch how the $8.2 billion World Labs acquisition — and incoming chief scientist Fei-Fei Li — gets positioned alongside hardware wins like this one as the physical-AI pitch comes together.
